I think I prefer wood over metal just because of the amazing things wood can do naturally, I love the look of this modern wooden "sculpture" by Michael Kukla
(http://www.woodindesign.com/2012/08/15/sculpture-michael-kukla/)

This is a simple painting I did on my closet door (not my favorite but you get the idea) I really like meshing the ideas of the body with nature, specifically eyes and trees. I believe that eyes are windows to the soul and you can tell a lot about how someone feels by looking them in the eyes.
These metal trees are incredible, and go along well with my ideas.

Hi Macee,
I have some things for you to think about. First of all the body, how are you interesting in the body's function, is it housing something? Do you want the viewer to empathize with the body? Is scale important? How is the tree functioning in this? How is the imagery you are interested in allowing the viewer to enter into the personal narrative you want to convey? How do we make the personal universal? Look into the imagery you want to use and research the history behind it to see what other layers of meaning you can find. Do the images need to be representational, can they be abstracted to convey the meaning you want. Also think about the metal element.
Look at these artists and how they use wood.
