I made little cylinders out of aluminum foil to create my Ben-Day dots and use them as the environment for my project. I followed instructions found online that all pointed me towards a similar direction in creating this sugar sculpture. I boiled water and sugar, scummed off any excess residue, added glucose (which I substituted light corn syrup for) and food dye. In the end, it did not really work out how I wanted it to and the syrup did not set as I hoped it would. I think possible errors that could have occurred might have been from substituting the glucose. I don't think that I want to spend more time on this and have it happen again, but I will try a few more times before Thursday. I think that if I end up not getting the right consistencies and ideal solids that I want, I'll probably switch to a different type of material - ice.
I think that I can use ice with most of the materials I bought and I've been researching methods of how to preserve ice longer and keep it from melting after having been sculpted. I also got friendly advice from Macee and could use dry ice from the Berkey Creamery as a foundation for my piece (it would look nice because it's in blocks which would give the project more depth and keep the cool temperature regulated.

Although the sugar idea didn't work out as I planned, I'm thinking of really cool ideas I could be doing with ice and dentistry.

A lot of problems happened, like the heat kept switching on
and off no matter what I did (switching outlets, switching burners)
and this led to non-consistent temperatures.
