Beginning of Artist Statement

I've noticed that much of my work combines the ideas of fantasy, beauty, consumption, decay, and growth.  My last two pieces combined some sort of painting or a two dimensional element along with the sculpture, which I have really enjoyed doing.  In my last piece, I loved my concept of a tumor or cancerous growth and would love to expand on that idea.  For my next piece I'm thinking of designing a cave-type structure that the viewer can interact with.  I really enjoyed using the great stuff foam in my last project, so I think I will use it again for the final project.  It is very light and seems to do what it wants and can be unpredictable, which can be good if you embrace that fact of it.  I also really enjoyed the two dimensional aspects of my last piece, so I might try to incorporate that as well.  I am excited to get started with this project!
