What is my piece doing?
It is small, tinkering, industrial, bare, ridged, neutral, masculine, manipulating, and creature-like. It bends with uniformity, each part functioning. A cold yet rustic, hipster man cave. It is curving with stiffness, mysterious, cryptic as if not specific. It's alluding, shaping, interesting, and plain.
Guess what this is?
(*Hint, you can find one of the components in your bathroom*)
I took shower curtain ringlets from Target, two belts, and wire is fused together to create the look of a spine and vertebre. This will be part of the back of the chair; kind of like the curving part of a desk rolling chair.
This object of my affection was inspired by a antique horse belt that I found at the Antique store near Milroy. Couldn't afford to buy the belt, so I decided to make my own.
I have also started exploring creating arm rests! I wanted to create a layering effect with belts; which I attempted to hot glue onto the metal frames. However, to my dismay, hot glue and leather do not mix well. I will have to find another solution to this. Because I definitely still vision this awesome manly-looking layering of belts to cover the arm rests.
After many snips and twists, this is the result of the disk rack now rib cage and spine. Who knew how small this piece really is without the frame and basket. I wish it were larger and I might add more wiring to make it bigger.

This is so exciting Kaye! I'm thinking that riveting into the leather and the metal will work, but let's check with Matt he may have a better solution. So cool looking at these parts, I'm looking forward to seeing them evolve more.
